Tiny Mission recently went on a mission to pick up our newest platform at the Google offices in San Francisco. Our founder Bekki Freeman and Account Director Camilo Pineda were welcomed by the Google Glass staff and given a tour of the new technology. After spending a couple weeks with the technology its hard not to think about how it will change our lives. From exploring the Bay Area to documenting moments with the family, it has been a nice supplement to our personal technology.
As developers we certainly see potential for consumer use Google Glass but we are actually even more excited for the commercial and industrial applications. We work with several companies that use tablets and smartphones as an integral part of the tools for their field workers. Google Glass has the potential to change the day to day activities of these technicians. Its been just a few years that technicians visiting clients home have gotten used to leaving behind their paper clipboards. Many have switched to our software on tablets. Now the future is leaving those tablets in their bag and completing their work just interacting with the Google Glass. They can keep that great contact with their customers while doing their work just by speaking and using the camera on the glass. Imagine a technician just saying “Ok Glass Send Report” and a snapshot of data and forms are sent to the client. The client using their own “glasses” could then see the trouble spots the technician sees through their own eyes. Its a very unique feeling to see the world through someone else’s eyes.
We are excited to be able to develop for this platform. Let us know how we can help develop your Google Glass ideas or even if you want an in person demo of the technology. Follow Camilo as he explore’s the world of Google Glass on google+
